Dear. Mr. Stockton:
We have had a good week at Bethabara, locating the cellar of the Tailor Shop, and discovering that one we thought we had located for it previously was actually the cellar for a small house that sat next door. We also found a hole that may have been the site of a kiln, though this is tentative. At any rate it produced a large number of items having to do with fireing of pottery and pipes, items such as stilts, sagger pins (found and triangular) and fragments of kiln saggers. We also cleaned off the area of the small buildings in the vicinity of the pottery, and will work more in that area next time.
We will be needing more supplies etc. such as a wheelbarrow, water hose, shovels, film, etc. and I will need to know if you want any special procedure followed in order for me to get them and having them billed. If not, then I will go ahead and get them and have them billed to the project. We will be back in a week or so, and plan to stay over the weekends so as to accomplish more in a single period of time.
The expenses for this week are:
2 men @ $5.00 subsistence per day for 5 days = $50.00
Sincerely,
